Formerly known as Vype, Vuse are a premium vape brand best known for their range of compact and affordable pod kits, and their ePod 2 device is certainly no exception. Although this device has been around for a couple of years now, it still remains one of our best-selling pod vape kits, so I finally decided to try it out for myself. Boasting a sleek, slimline frame and a great range of pod flavours to choose from, this pre-filled pod kit bears all the hallmarks of a quality vape starter kit.

With so many different vape starter kit options out there, it can be tricky to figure out which one is best for you. To keep things simple, my review is here to guide you through the Vuse ePod, putting its key features, design, and pod flavours under the microscope to see how it stacks up. Vuse ePod Features

Since the ePod 2 is a pod kit, I didn’t have to fill up the device with e-liquid to get started. Instead, I simply attached a prefilled pod to the vape pen and I was ready to go. This kit is exclusively compatible with Vuse Epod Pro Pods, each holding 1.9ml of nic salt eliquid. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these pods and just how long they last. Compared to the likes of Juul pods and other popular brands, each Vuse ePod stayed strong for multiple days of consistent use. However, the 350mAh internal battery required charging every day, but I found that it held enough power to keep me covered on a day out.

As far as the actual vaping experience goes, I think this device is definitely targeted towards users who have recently quit smoking. Upon inhale, the draw is pretty restricted, and while this isn’t suitable for everyone, it’s great for those wanting a cigarette-like experience and the vapour production is very minimal. However, I wasn’t a huge fan of the auto cut-off feature where the device doesn’t allow you to take deep drags, cutting you off after 5 seconds of inhaling.

Moving on from the inner workings, let’s take a peek at how it looks from the outside.

Vuse ePod Ergonomics & Design

After taking this Vuse vape out of its sleek packaging, the first thing that caught my eye was its size. It’s one of the most compact pod devices I’ve ever seen, coming in at just 4 inches tall. It’s also incredibly lightweight, and I could hardly feel it in my hand so it’s the perfect portable companion to toss in your pocket for on-the-go use. Furthermore, the metallic and slimline exterior is completely buttonless, further adding to its user-friendly nature and keeping things simple enough for even total beginners to get to grips with.

The magnetic connection that holds each Vuse pod in place is surprisingly strong and reliable, and I’m yet to experience any leaking or spit-back, which is pretty rare for a prefilled pod kit. Nevertheless, the same can’t be said for the charging cable. This Vuse vape is only compatible with the brand’s proprietary magnetic USB charger. I found that the magnetic charging connection isn’t always seamless and sometimes takes some fiddling to establish a stable connection. I also prefer devices that come with a universal cable as it makes it much easier and cheaper to find a replacement if needed.

On that note, let’s take a look at the flavours on offer.

Vuse ePod Flavours

As previously mentioned, the Vuse ePod 2 is only compatible with the brand’s range of Vuse prefilled pods. But with 14 delicious blends to choose from, users will be pleased to know that they’ve included a great mix of fruity favourites along with a handful of traditional and classic flavour profiles to satisfy just about everyone’s taste buds. Each of the 14 Vuse flavours fall into one of the following categories:

● Ice Fruit
● Classic
● Beverages

Although Vuse doesn't have the most extensive range of flavours on offer, I feel like the flavours they have chosen to release cover all essential bases. If you’re an ex-smoker who misses the taste of cigarettes, then you’ll be pleased to learn that Vuse are serving up multiple different tobacco-based profiles, some light and mellow, others smooth and minty. Similarly, if you prefer sweet and exciting vape flavours, their fruit flavours such as Garden Strawberry and beverage flavours like Tequila Sunrise are sure to keep the more adventurous vape fan happy. With that in mind, let’s turn our heads to the other products Vuse has to offer.

Vuse Pod Kit Ranges

As Vuse have been on the scene for a few years now, it should come as no surprise that the ePod is not their only pod kit. The device that first brought this brand to fame was their ePen 3, which still remains incredibly popular today. Although both the ePen 3 and the ePod boast the same affordable price tag, they’re far from the same device. First and foremost, the Vuse ePen 3 sports a much larger battery, coming complete with an astounding 650mAh internal battery source, making it a reliable option for all-day vaping.

Nevertheless, bigger doesn’t always necessarily mean better. This larger battery capacity also demands a larger frame, making the ePen 3 the larger of the two. While both Vuse devices are small enough to hold or squeeze into your pocket with ease, the ePod 2 takes the cake in terms of compactness. The Vuse ePod Pro is also the more lightweight device, coming in at a whopping 43% lighter than the ePen 3, making it the best option for vape fans on the move who prioritise portability.

Vuse ePod Comparison

To better understand how the Vuse ePod  performs, it’s important to take a look at how it stands up in the pod vape kit industry as a whole. While Vuse is certainly among the most established and well-known prefilled pod kit brands on the market, there are a handful of other competitors on the scene; most notably, Elf Bar. Following the success of their disposables, Elf Bar soon branched out into the world of pod kits, giving us the Elf Bar Mate 500 and the Elfa.

Both Vuse and Elf Bar pod kits share the same features that make them appeal to beginner vape fans, sporting a prefilled pod design that requires no messy refills. However, the Elf Bar devices do have a slight edge over the Vuse ePod, boasting a larger battery and pod capacity. Nevertheless, Vuse has still managed to outperform some of the biggest names in the game, including Juul. Not only does the ePod feature a larger battery, but the prefilled pod refills last considerably longer than Juul pods, thus making it a major player and worthy competitor in the pod kit market.

However, Juul has recently made an impressive comeback with their Juul 2 device, which promises a 20% larger battery capacity than the original and innovative app-based technology that allows you to track your vaping habits. While I haven’t tried out the Juul 2 for myself yet, I’m planning to soon, so watch this space! But from the outset, this unique e-cigarette looks like it might just have what it takes to compete with the likes of the Elf Bar Elfa and Vuse ePod 2 pod kits.

As pod vape kits go, you’ll have a hard time finding a cleaner and more portable device than what Vuse has to offer. Its smooth performance teamed with discreet vapour production makes it a great candidate for beginners wanting to dip their toes into the world of vaping for the first time. Although the modest battery life and auto cut-off is unlikely to satisfy heavy users, it makes for a great vape starter kit for those who have recently quit smoking, or even a handy backup for those on the go.

The Vuse ePod excels in its convenience and comfort, and its featherlight feel is difficult to beat, with many of its rivals being larger, heavy and awkward to grip in comparison. The overall vaping experience is simple and enjoyable, integrating seamlessly with the brand’s tasty pre-filled pods that provide a hassle-free MTL draw without sacrificing flavour.

If you’re still struggling to decide if the Vuse ePod is right for you, I recommend taking the flavour options into account.
